friendsgiving

My Thanksgiving usually consists of my boyfriend and I going out to dinner or ordering a ton of takeout and binge-watching Holiday movies. But since we’re not able to make it back to our home states like a lot of our friends, we’ll host a brunch the following weekend. It’s the ideal way to celebrate the start of the holiday season. Here is my Friendsgiving guide with tips, tricks, and party planning ideas on how to throw a memorable gathering. Set the Date and Time Ask your guests beforehand when it is the most convenient time to have your gathering. The best options would beRead More →

manicure

I went from getting my nails done at the salon every two weeks to doing my manicure at home. I look forward to the “me time” I spend on Sunday afternoons doing my nails while binge-watching a favorite TV show. For inspiration I’ll watch Youtube tutorials on nail design and I follow nail technicians on Instagram. When I have extra time, I’ll apply nail decals, or do little designs. Depending on the time of the year, what I’m doing, or where I’m going, I have specific colors I use that correlate with the occasion. Here are my tried-and-true manicure steps, along with my go-to colorsRead More →

Haunted Hotel

This past weekend when my boyfriend and I were planning our date night, I suggested that we explore a haunted hotel in downtown Los Angeles. Usually when we go out on a Friday night, we meet up with friends for drinks, or we’ll head to a trendy eatery. Being so close to Halloween, I wanted to do something festive but also avoid the typical tourist attractions. We’ve been binge-watching The Haunting of Hill House (a must see), and that definitely inspired my idea. We also stopped by my favorite bookstore located inside an old bank vault. I’m not sure how I feel about “ghosts,” andRead More →

Rock n air plants

A few years ago I got into the crystal craze and started collecting beautiful minerals that are now displayed throughout my apartment. When I saw these cute air plants by Rock n Air I had to add them to my growing collection. Rock n Air plants are handmade in Los Angeles by its founder Kim Leake. You can order these babies on her Etsy shop where she sells an assortment of plants and crystals in different shapes and sizes. They’re all one-of-a-kind and very unique. Each plant includes free shipping and comes packaged in a white gift box, tied with a black grosgrain ribbon. YouRead More →

Easy DIY Fall Decorations

One of the many elements I cherish about the autumn season is creating easy DIY fall decorations. I’ll start by scanning the Internet for inspiration. Then I’ll head to the craft store to pick up supplies and invite my girlfriends over for a “DIY party.” I’ll have potpourri simmering on the stove and serve apple cider and donuts. It’s an entertaining girls night in and allows us a chance to catch up while creating one-of-a-kind fall crafts. This year I’ve come up with a list of 25 projects that have inspired me. Lunchtime Chemical Peels

A few years ago I went to my aesthetician because I was suffering from a bad breakout. I assumed I was immune to blemishes since I never had to deal with these issues as a teen. Not only did I need to treat the breakout, but I had leftover purple marks I was looking to get rid of. The aesthetician suggested IPLs which I had already tried, and they are super expensive and only helped temporarily. She she also recommended other things that I could do at home that weren’t invasive: lunchtime chemical peels, derma-rollering, serums, and LED light therapy. I would space them outRead More →

low-calorie vegetarian and vegan recipes

I was never good at cooking, I would attempt to make a dish from scratch, take one bite and then toss it in the trash. When I first moved to California and I lived alone I became the queen of takeout; after a long day it was much easier to order from one of my favorite restaurants on Postmates or UberEats than to destroy my kitchen cooking something that would end up down the drain. When my boyfriend and I moved in together, I wanted to give cooking another try. I wanted to be able to prepare healthy food options for us to enjoy together.Read More →

los angeles coffee shops

Working from home can be convenient, but have you ever tried working from a coffee shop? I’ve always been the most productive working outside of my home. It may seem like a distraction, but once you’re in the setting, you learn to block out distractions and become efficient versus staying at home and choosing to have Netflix playing in the background. The great thing about coffee shops is that they have comfortable furniture, calming music, opportunities for networking with other creatives, and unlimited amounts of caffeine! I decided to go on a neighbor tour where I tried their food, their Wifi, and of course theirRead More →

Star Map

When my boyfriend and I moved into our new apartment we had a lot of white empty walls that we were looking to fill with unique artwork. We outgrew a lot of the previous pieces that were hanging up in our old apartment, or they no longer fit with the decor in our new place. We both have totally different styles; he’s into surrealism and I’m into trendy, street art, and pop art. However, there is once piece that we both equally agree on and thoroughly love which is our Star Map print by Modern Map Art. We collaborated with this digital design company thatRead More →

summertime bucket list

We’re almost a month into summer which got me thinking about what I’ve done so far this season… Took an exotic vacation Watched the sunrise on the beach Had lunch at Gjelina (I’d been wanting to try that restaurant for a long time) Spent a day on Abbot Kinney Boulevard, had ice cream, and then strolled the Venice Canals. Got excited about a new TV Show (hint: Sharp Objects) Hosted a 4th of July get-together and watched the fireworks Attended a dessert festival Went Jet-skiing But it also made me think about all the things I would still like to do but haven’t had theRead More →
