My Top 5 Los Angeles Coffee Shops Where You Can Go to Escape the Office

Working from home can be convenient, but have you ever tried working from a coffee shop? I’ve always been the most productive working outside of my home. It may seem like a distraction, but once you’re in the setting, you learn to block out distractions and become efficient versus staying at home and choosing to have Netflix playing in the background. The great thing about coffee shops is that they have comfortable furniture, calming music, opportunities for networking with other creatives, and unlimited amounts of caffeine! I decided to go on a neighbor tour where I tried their food, their Wifi, and of course their coffee! Here’s my list of my favorite Los Angeles coffee shops to work out of.

Rubies + Diamonds is one of my favorite coffee shops in Los Angeles. The concept is set up to look like a modern jewelry store and they have their signature hashtag #notajewelrystore written on their walls.  R + D is known for their nitrogen infused drinks. They also serve tea, beer and wine, and their food menu is extensive, ranging from breakfast items, sandwiches, burritos, to spam musubi! R + D is an amazing place to study or work. There are comfortable couches, reliable WiFi, freshly made food, a calm ambiance, and a great view of Sunset Blvd. I suggest you try the coconut turmeric latte and the blueberry toast.

I randomly came across Dinosaur Coffee while taking a walk on Sunset Blvd. When I looked inside it was so interesting that I had to walk in. The name helps to inspire the wooden decor within the coffee shop. Inside you will find dinosaur figurines, menu items carved on pieces of wood, and an Instagramable sign that says “things will be fine” which is the perfect mantra for when you’re stressing and on a deadline. They don’t have an extensive menu, but they do sell delicious pastries like croissants and coffee cake. This charming place is perfect for someone who is a freelancer and needs an “office.” There is also a room to work with a group and plenty of outlets. Don’t forget to pick up one of their cute and bold mugs on your way out.

LAMILL Coffee Boutique is truly a gem. It is my go-to when I want to “escape” LA, but not actually leave the city. When you walk into Lamill, you’re instantly transported to a cute café in Paris. Lamill is known for sourcing its coffee beans from Kenya, Colombia, and Brazil, making for a wonderful cup of exotic coffee. Some reasons to come here are the beautiful teal leather chairs you can sit in while you work and are enjoying an amazing brew and an extensive menu. They serve up things like sandwiches, pies, donuts, chicken & waffles, along with fancy teas, and juices. My favorites are the lavender lemonade, mushroom cheddar muffin, and avocado toast. Trust me, you must try them all!

MatchaBar originated in New York and recently came to Los Angeles, Silver Lake to be exact. This café is part of the new matcha trend and offers matcha-infused food and drinks, healthy snacks, and of course coffee. It is on the smaller side, but perfect for getting any small project done. Seating is located on the patio, which is an excellent excuse to “get out of the office” and work in the sun. Try the Rosé Matcha Latte, the Coconut Water Matcha, and the Matcha Baklava Croissant.

Eightfold Coffee is a new café located in Echo Park. I came across it through Instagram and was captivated by its simplicity and marble tables. It’s ideal whether you have a big project to work on, or if you’re just stopping by to grab a coffee and relax while enjoying the ambiance. You can even enjoy a quick read from their book selection. The tasty menu is very simple and straightforward with food options like avocado toast, chia pudding, and a selection of delicious pastries.
