Every year when autumn arrives there’s a special feeling in the air. In the middle of July I flew from Los Angeles to the East Coast because my parents were buying a beach house at the Connecticut shoreline. This has been, by far, the oddest summer I’ve ever lived through. As the world is still in a pandemic, international and even cross-country vacation plans are at a halt for most Americans.
