All Things November

All Things November

Growing up on the east coast, fall has always been one of my favorite seasons. The leaves turning, the nights starting to get cooler, sitting by the fireplace, knowing that Christmas is around the corner… Fall in Los Angeles, is quite different. As I type, it’s currently 76 degrees outside.

I still try to take what I love about fall and make new traditions. Here’s a mix of things I adopted back in Massachusetts (like, cold nights binging on Netflix and football games), along with new things (farmers markets, Urth Caffe pumpkin pie, and new recipes).

1. Bronzer. Just because the sun goes down at like 4pm you don’t have to look like a ghost. This is Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder, $53 my all time favorite bronzer. It comes in a variety of shades and is sold at Sephora.

2. Pumpkins. Halloweens over, but don’t throw out your pumpkins just yet. Okay, throw out your jackolanterns. I keep uncarved pumpkins and squash around until Thanksgiving and use them to decorate.

3. November Produce. Here’s a list of fall produce to take with you to your local farmers market.

4. Apple Cider Moscow Mule. A delicious recipe to drink while sitting by the fire–or in my case watching a movie. Here’s where to buy the copper mugs.

5. Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. I don’t know about yall but come November 25th, I will be stuffing my face with leftover turkey and binge watching Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life on Netflix.

6. Football. Being from New England, I’m a huge Patriots fan (don’t hate), unfortunally they’re not playing on Thanksgiving, but the Rams are. Here’s a complete list of Thanksgiving day football games.

7. After dinner wear. After Thanksgiving, this is the shirt I’ll be lounging in. Disco Snack Heights Crew Tee, by Wildfox, $68.

8. Pumpkin Pie. I don’t even like pumpkin pie, but Urth Caffe’s is so mind-blowing, that I’m obsessed. You can pick up a whole pie for $35 at one of their So Cal locations, or stop in for a slice. Then hit up your local gym.

9. Candles. I have candles going all year round; even then it’s 100 degrees out. That’s how much I love candles! For seasonal scents, I still lean towards Yankee Candle. My favorites for fall are Crisp Morning Air and Apple Cider, both ranging from $1.99-27.99.

10. Broccoli Cheddar Soup. If you’ve ever had this from Panera Bread, you know just how addicting it is. I decided to make my own and followed this recipe. Don’t forget bread bowls.

11. S’mores. No fireplace needed for microwave s’mores. I use two squares of Hershey’s chocolate bars. If you like white chocolate, try using the cookies n cream bars instead, or mix it up and use both.

12. Dead Poets Society. I love this film, and everything about it. Check out Town and Country Magazine’s list of fall inspired films.

13. Sweater Weather. Hoping it will dip below 60 degrees, I still stock up on fall/winter sweaters and cross my fingers. It’s perfect to wear on a lazy weekend or to the office. Delphine Sweater, by Wildfox, $258

14. Farmers Market. LA has some of the best famers markets. No matter where you live, or what your schedule is you will be able to find one since they’re held every day of the week. My favorites are, Historic Downtown Los Angeles Farmers Market, DTLA. The Original Farmers Market, Melrose. Santa Monica Farmers Market, Santa Monica. Grand Central Market, DTLA. Here’s a complete listing.

15. Chai Tea. I love chai tea, but my all time favorite is spiced chai by Big Train, which you can drink hot or cold. Amazon, $12.99.

16. Lipstick. My clothes get darker and so does my makeup. This shade is called Antique Velvet, by MAC, $17.

17. Slippers. I count the days until its cold enough, that I can pull my UGGs slippers from out of the closet. Dakota Slippers by UGGs, $99.95.

18. Nail polish. No more pastals or bright colors. This nail polish kit by Deborah Lippmann, $36 will take you from fall all the way into spring.

What are you favorite things about fall?
