What I Loved in November

This month Gina will be sharing her monthly must-haves!
A collection of things I loved in November, from beauty products and fashion to entertainment and everything in between.

This month I loved night skateboarding through the Shoreline Bike Path in Long Beach. The weather has cooled down and the glowing lights of downtown that highlight this trail truly make it feel like the holidays. I’m also obsessed with my cute rose and white gold penny board, as it’s really easy to use for beginner skaters like myself. Riding through the crisp air gives me a relaxing and happy feeling. With all the stresses going on in the world, taking the time to get outside and stay active has helped tremendously with my anxiety. This bike path goes for miles, so putting on my headphones and listening to some of my favorite albums has made this the perfect activity.

What I Loved in November, 2020: Click image to open expanded view Splat Purple Semi Permanent Hair Color

Whenever fall comes around, I like to dye my hair a dark purple or auburn color. Since my hair is dark brown, the dye usually shows up as an undertone that you can only notice in the sunlight. I am pleasantly surprised at how well this one has shown up in my hair. It gives me a vibrant dark purple shade that is perfect for fall and winter. It’s also easy to apply with the squeeze applicator, and I only needed one pouch to coat my hair entirely, even with my hair being super long. I used Splat which is available in other colors and I can’t wait to try out red and navy blue once this shade fades (it lasts for about 30 washes).

What I Loved in November, 2020: The One Purple Shampoo and Conditioner

Another hair product I found this month that I am obsessing over is Kristen Ess’s The One Purple Shampoo and Conditioner. Before I dyed my hair purple, I was struggling with brassiness due to the bleach blonde highlights I added during the summer. I scoured the hair section when I was in Target and purchased these two products to see if they would help. Now, I can say they work like magic! Not only do they cure brassiness, but they also helped with my split ends, dryness, and damage due to bleaching. While each bottle costs only $12, you only need to use a bit every few washes. I use these with my purple hair as they help the color stay vibrant and act as a toner. I highly recommend them to anyone struggling with brassiness or to prevent color fading.

What I Loved in November, 2020: Pull & Bear Boots

I’m a certified boot fiend, and I buy a fresh pair every time the season changes. Classic black boots go with just about everything and they’re a must-have in my closet. This month I splurged on the most beautiful platform knee-high boots from Pull & Bear. These literally transform every outfit. I’ve been wearing them with statement dresses and oversized jackets (thank you to California weather for letting me wear them during November!). These boots have been sold out and then restocked multiple times this season. In case they’re gone for good, here are a few similar options from Jeffrey Campbell, Famous Footwear, and LF.

What I Loved in November, 2020: Trader Joe's Cacio e Pepe Ravioli

My last favorite thing this month was the delicious, Italian Cacio e Pepe Ravioli from Trader Joe’s. Cacio e Pepe or “cheese and pepper” is one of my favorite pasta dishes, so to have it formed into ravioli (another one of my favorites!) is like a dream come true. They are only $3.49 and make for the best dinner. I like to mix mine with butter, olive oil, and add some fresh basil on top to make for a simple yet delicious entrée. Yum!
